Tequila Ocho Anejo Aged in Old Fitzgerald Bourbon Barrels 750

Tequila Ocho Añejo Barrel Select Old Fitzgerald marries the finest agave-forward tequila with the heady aromas and rich caramel notes from prized casks that once held the famed Old Fitzgerald Bourbon 10-Year-Old Spring 2023 Decanter Series. Casks were transported more than 1,800 miles from Kentucky to Arandas, in the Los Altos region of Jalisco state, for the year-long aging process. The collaboration between makers from two very different parts of the world yields an expression of tequila that shines bright in its agave profile while being framed up beautifully by the hand-selected bourbon barrels, making for an unforgettable Ocho sipping experience. Like all of Tequila Ocho, only three ingredients are used: agave, natural airborne yeast, and water. Production is done the slow, artisanal way with patience in each step. Solely overripe agaves are harvested from the Golden Triangle of Los Altos de Jalisco before being slow-cooked in brick ovens for 48 hours and laid to cool for another 24 hours. The agaves are roller-mill crushed, fermented using natural airborne yeast, and double-pot distilled at low temperatures, first in stainless steel with copper components, second in full copper pots. Lastly, it is aged for one year in Old Fitzgerald 10-Year-Old bourbon barrels. The nose offers toasted coconut, dark chocolate, roasted pineapple, maple syrup, and light minerality which is complemented by a palate of coffee, toffee, toasted oak, orange peel, and lots of cacao.
